National Energy Administration: China Has Built About 4 Million Charging Infrastructure, Forming the World's Largest Charging Network

The National Development and Reform Commission of China held a press conference on infrastructure construction. Song Wen, Deputy Director of the Planning Department of the National Energy Administration, said that after years of development, China has become the world's largest energy producer, built a diversified and clean energy supply system, formed an energy infrastructure network that spans the east and west, runs through the north and south, covers the whole country, and connects overseas, which has effectively guaranteed the energy demand for economic and social development, mainly in four aspects.

First, the infrastructure to ensure energy supply is more complete. The world's largest power system has been built, with an installed power generation capacity of 2.47 billion kilowatts, exceeding the total installed capacity of the G7 countries; the length of transmission lines of 35 kV and above has reached 2.26 million kilometers, and 33 UHV transmission channels have been built and put into operation. Nearly 300 million kilowatts, the installed capacity of power generation, transmission lines, and West-to-East power transmission have increased by 1.2 times, 0.5 times, and 1.6 times, respectively, compared with ten years ago. The "one national network" of oil and gas has initially been formed, with a pipeline network of exceeding 180,000 km, doubling from ten years ago. The four major oil and gas import strategic channels in the northwest, northeast, southwest and offshore have been further consolidated. In the past ten years, the annual growth of energy production has supported the annual growth of the national economy by 6.6% with an average annual growth of 2.4%, and the energy self-sufficiency rate has been stable at over 80% for a long time.

Second, accelerate the construction of energy infrastructure for green transformation. The total installed capacity of renewable energy power generation exceeded 1.1 billion kilowatts, nearly three times that of a decade ago, accounting for over 30% of the total installed capacity of renewable energy in the world. The installed capacity of hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic, biomass power generation and the scale of nuclear power under construction rank first in the world. About 4 million units of charging infrastructure have been built, forming the world's largest charging network. A total of more than 270 hydrogen refueling stations have been built, accounting for about 40% of the global total, ranking first in the world. Non-fossil energy consumption accounts for nearly a quarter of the world's total, ranking first in the world.

Third, the energy and people's livelihood infrastructure have been inclusive. Urban and rural energy infrastructure has been further improved, and the electrification level of terminal energy consumption has increased from 22.5% to 27% in the past ten years, an increase of nearly 5%. The per capita electricity consumption exceeds that of the United Kingdom, Italy and other countries. Over the past ten years, the state has allocated more than 430 billion yuan for the transformation of rural power grids, and successively implemented power construction projects in areas without electricity and rural power grid transformation and upgrading. The large power grid has covered all county-level administrative regions, realizing the power supply in villages, and the reliability of rural power supply has reached 99.8%, taking the lead in developing countries to achieve electricity for all. The photovoltaic poverty alleviation project has been fully completed, with a total installed capacity of 26.36 million kilowatts, benefiting 100,000 villages and 4.15 million poor households. The renovation of heating facilities has been implemented according to local conditions, and the clean heating rate in the northern region reached 73.6%.

Fourth, new energy infrastructure is booming. The digital and intelligent level of energy infrastructure continues to improve, the construction of smart grid is accelerated, and the coverage rate of power distribution automation have exceeded 90% in 2021; the construction of intelligent coal mines has accelerated, and more than 800 intelligent mining working faces have been built; a number of 5G + smart thermal power plants have been built, the production IOT system covers many oil and gas fields; The diversified and rapid development of new energy storage has exceeded 4 million kilowatts.
