The popular ride-sharing app Uber has announced a partnership with the Chinese carmaker BYD
to bring 100,000 BYD EVs to the Uber platform in Europe and Latin America.
Through this collaboration, Uber drivers will receive better pricing, insurance, financing, and other
services for BYD vehicles. The aim is to speed up the transition to EVs and introduce
autonomous-capable EVs to Uber's fleet.
BYD, China's largest electric carmaker, has shifted its focus to producing EVs and hybrids, expanding
its presence in global markets. The rise of affordable Chinese EVs impacts the world auto industry,
so the European Commission has imposed tariffs on these imports due to competitive pressures
on EU EV producers.
How do you think, this collaboration can be related to the increased tariffs on Chinese EV cars in
Europe? How can this influence the European EV market?
